My Bio
When life doesn't prevent me from doing so, I write. Usually it's about however I might be feeling at a given time, or a random idea I've had. That being said, I'm indiscriminate about what I post. In a form of catharsis, I am airing all my poetic laundry to deviantArt; whether this is foolish is an entirely different matter.

I'm an extremely musical & artistic person, so often I'll use references of musical or art terminology in my writings. Sometimes, what I write doesn't make total sense to me, & it definitely doesn't make sense to most of my day-to-day acquaintances. One of the most brilliantly wonderful things about a place like deviantArt is that you'll stumble across people who don't immediately shy away from perplexing or initially obscure meanings of things.

With that, I invite you to peruse, & feel free to leave comments or just drop me a greeting! I love it when random things happen :)

Here we go again! New plans, new things to look forward to, new memories. Another college year begins, another birthday past. In big news, I'm traveling to Spain this coming January to spend a semester studying there! I'm so excited I could split my skin. I'll be in Seville, Spain, the capital of Andalusia (the southern province), but hopefully I'll have chances to travel at least briefly to Granada, Córdoba, and possibly even the northern portion of Africa! Any experienced travelers are more than welcome to give me a few suggestions or hints! Something not quite as exciting but still a wonderful prospect is .... (Drumroll) the fact th

On the eve of my departure from home to head back to school, I can't help but feel that the Thanksgiving holidays are a tease to college students; they set us free from their scholastic shackles (somewhat) & send us back to our families, or wherever we harken from, only to summon us suddenly back less than a week later. Then they slam us with a few more weeks of class & finals.. Now, don't get me wrong, I love the whole college deal. Learning? Totally my thing. However, since I live a considerable distance of several hundred miles from where I attend school for 8/9 months of the year, the fact that this break is so short is just... a slap in

Do you ever see something that makes you immeasurably sad like a tsunami wave? Or makes you entirely paranoid, or terrified? All of a sudden. Unprovoked. Bliss to despair. I hate those moments. Especially when you throw a toss of uncertainty in as well. I need to eat something. I can feel my insides dissolving. & I need to stop listening to Goodbye- Secondhand Serenade 9 Crimes- Damien Rice The Luckiest- Ben Folds Gravity- Sara Bareilles They're not helping my moment attack.

Hey Emily,

I much appreciate the favorite on my piece Daylight|Nightlight. It's certainly not the easiest of reads, so for you to take the time to do so when I'm sure you have so many other things you are already catching up on (not to mention upcoming midterms and graduation things), itmeans a lot to me, good miss.

Thank you.

I enjoy your work. It's of different stuff than I get the chance to read much of the time, and I study literature in 3 languages. It's a nice mental gear-shift to read something in English for a change :) My favorite bit was near the end:

"I keep silence in a dented aerosol can
    lording her dusty shelf throne
        with the knowledge that,
I will be raised from the dead
-     as I do not do as they do    -
and yet, she will still transcend me.

A queen ruling over the next world
            in our walking sleep,
paved in a basin of exclamation water
        with a deep breath:

    the white knuckled surprise
         we'll forever be holding unto,"

And yes, I'm incredibly busy - but the time spent was well worth it, and I'm the better for it. I'm always glad to read what you post on here.

Perhaps the difference lies a bit in the fact that it is in English, but man is it just an honor to have you say so, good miss.

I like that section as well, I think I did a good job capturing the narrator in those stanzas - much better than I did in much of the rest of the piece. Definitely something I need to work on.

Honored, fair miss, just the most honored.

Psh, don't depreciate your work. It's good stuff - no matter what language you're used to reading (and I read a lot of the 'masters' in French, Spanish, & English, so I feel somewhat qualified to pose an opinion).

I really like the imagery you invoked, and yes, the narrative voice is strong and clear.

I'm flattered you're honored, but having someone like me read your work sure isn't an 'honor.' :)
